Perfect For
Bakhoor Rituals: The primary and most traditional use. Burn on charcoal or electric burners for an authentic bakhoor experience.
Creating Ambiance: Transform your home with rich, woody aroma. Perfect for living rooms, prayer rooms, or meditation spaces.
Special Occasions: Elevate celebrations, dinner parties, or family gatherings. A sign of hospitality and refinement.
Meditation & Relaxation: Deep, grounding scent supports focus and calm. Traditionally used in spiritual rituals across cultures.
Gift-Giving: Exceptional gift for those who appreciate fine fragrances, traditional incense, or cultural heritage.
How to Use
Charcoal Method: Light a charcoal disk in a heat-safe burner. Once glowing (5–10 minutes), place a small piece of agarwood on top. The heat releases aromatic smoke gradually. Most traditional and authentic method.
Electric Burner: Place a small piece on the heated surface of an electric incense burner. Cleaner, easier to control, and produces only pure agarwood aroma without charcoal smoke.
Dosage: A little goes a long way. Start with a piece the size of a rice grain to a small pebble — even small amounts produce long-lasting fragrance.
Understanding Agarwood Quality
Agarwood forms when Aquilaria trees become infected with a specific mould, triggering production of dark, resinous heartwood as a defence mechanism. Only infected trees produce true agarwood — making it rare and valuable.
Visual indicators: The darker and more resin-saturated the wood, the stronger and more complex the aroma. Indian Gold pieces are hand-selected for optimal resin content.
Aromatic profile: Expect a rich, woody, resinous aroma with complexity that evolves. Warm, slightly sweet, and deeply grounding — characteristics that have made agarwood precious for millennia.
Tradition & Heritage
Agarwood has been treasured for over 3,000 years across Asian and Middle Eastern cultures. It appears in ancient religious texts, was traded along the Silk Road, and has been used in spiritual ceremonies, royal courts, and traditional medicine.
Measuring in Tolas (approximately 12 grams) is a practice spanning centuries, connecting modern enthusiasts with generations of traders and collectors who valued agarwood the same way.
